After the Texas Department of Public Safety suspended Texas Ranger Christopher Ryan Kindell, one of hundreds of officers who responded to the May 24 mass shooting, felony cases he investigated are in jeopardy and experts have questioned the justification for his suspension.

Parents, teachers, school staff and students who were on scene the day of the shooting are demanding redress for "the indelible and forever-lasting trauma" caused by the failures of law enforcement.

In a lawsuit filed Thursday, the city of Uvalde says the district attorney is restricting information needed by its independent investigator. Uvalde wants a judge to compel the prosecutor to hand over all relevant investigative information.

The inquiry will help determine whether criminal charges should be brought against responding officers.
