The Delhi Police is likely to file a charge sheet on June 15 in connection with the case of alleged sexual harassment filed against outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh on the complaints of women wrestlers.

Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has hit out at the government on the wrestlers’ issue, saying the BJP is going to do itself a “great deal of damage” as it has taken a stand which is “morally unacceptable” to the nation.

For months now, Indian wrestling athletes, including Olympic medallists, have been leading protests in the capital of New Delhi. They are seeking the arrest of the Wrestling Federation of India’s president, Brij Bhushan Singh, who is facing allegations that he sexually harassed athletes.

Since January, when the wrestlers’ protest against Mr. Singh started and Khap panchayats and farmers from Haryana’s hinterland started giving ultimatums.

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal on Wednesday issued a summon to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi in a case pertaining to the wrestlers-WFI case where an identity of a minor wrestler who has accused Brij Bhushan of harassing her was revealed on social media.
