SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A last-minute witness jolted the trial of a man suing Amtrak and a Marysville hospital after his legs were cut off by a passing train as he lay on the tracks early on Christmas Eve 2016.

SAN DIEGO — Work to protect the railroad tracks on an unstable slope in San Clemente now is expected to stop all passenger train service between San Diego and Orange counties through at least mid-December.

“They were cracking glowsticks to give us light. The toilets are overflowing because you cannot flush these toilets without electricity,” one passenger said.
