Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 25, 2023 left for India after concluding his first-ever visit to Egypt where he held talks with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and was conferred with the Arab country’s highest honour ‘Order of the Nile’.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on June 25, conferred the country’s highest state honour “Order of the Nile” award to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This is the 13th such highest state honour that various countries across the world have conferred upon PM Modi.

The trip is anticipated to pave the way for a substantial increase in India’s investment in the North African country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Cairo on June 24 for a two-day state visit at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Egypt in 26 years.
