Zoos call for changes to ‘misleading’ weather apps they say can deter visitors

The charity that runs Edinburgh Zoo said ‘misleading’ weather forecasts can cost it up to £40,000 a day – enough to feed its penguins for a year (Jane Barlow/PA) - (PA Archive)

The charity that runs Edinburgh Zoo has called on the Met Office to improve how forecasts are shown on weather apps, saying “misleading” forecasts are costing it up to £40,000 a day.

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS) said many popular apps show a rain icon for the whole day – even if wet weather is only forecast for a short time in the morning or evening.
