New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani criticised Elon Musk after the billionaire's support for 'universal high income' was raised during an episode of the PBS programme The Open Mind dated 25 September 2026.

Mamdani said Musk should back his stated support for a high standard of living with action. Musk said in April that federal government cheques could address unemployment caused by artificial intelligence.
