New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani was interrupted by a heckler as he was addressing a press conference on affordable housing. As Mamdani was speaking, he segued to the heckler and said in NYC, all voices will be heard. "I want that man to be able to afford to keep living in NYC. If I don't hear him yelling at me. If I don't hear him yelling at me, it means he got priced out of this place. I don't want that. I don't want that for him. I don't want that for anybody in this city. We need to make this city affordable enough to yell at your politicians. If it's not the city, I don't want to live in that city," Mamdani said as the man continued shouting in the background.
Mamdani announced the Neighborhood Builders Fast Track, which he says will create a prequalified roster of developers. It will cut down on pre-development time for new projects from 18 months to 10 months, he said.
