Daredevils will be taking to the air this week when a zipwire stretching above the Tyne becomes the latest attraction in NE1's Summer in the City programme.
A zipwire will be set up from the Tyne Bridge to the quayside by Friday to offer people an opportunity to enjoy an eagle-eyed view of the riverscape and a thrilling experience riding 30m high and at speeds of up 30mph. Excitement has been growing ever since plans for the zipline were unveiled as part of this year's summer programme.
There are opportunities to sign up for a range of time slots on five upcoming dates, starting this Friday, and they include a unique chance for a twilight ride too which will take in the sparkling lights of Newcastle and Gateshead quaysides. The zipwire costs £35 and is the only paid-for activity on NE1's summer programme which also includes the likes of outdoor games and free courses ranging from yoga to sport.
