Dundee's late-bid to sign Zeno Rossi is now in the hands of FIFA.
The Premiership’s bottom side tried to push through a last-minute loan deal for the Bournemouth defender before Monday’s deadline.
The registration was not signed off at both ends before midnight on Monday.
Dundee are adamant they did everything right at their end and believe they have a sound case.
The deal has been put to FIFA because they need to give it the green light because it wasn’t completed outside of the window.
Rossi knocked back Crewe to make the move north and has currently been left in limbo.
He is still training with Bournemouth but is hoping to return to Scotland to get first-team football with James McPake's side.
Rossi had a loan spell at Kilmarnock last season.
Dundee boss McPake could be forced to look at the free agent market if this case drags on.
