Zendaya expresses willingness to return for Dune 3 in future

Zendaya ready for Dune 3

In a recent interview, Zendaya expressed her eagerness to return for Dune 3, the potential sequel to the highly anticipated Dune: Part Two. While the second installment of the epic sci-fi film series is yet to hit theaters, Zendaya is already prepared to reprise her role as Chani, a freedom fighter central to the storyline of Paul Atreides and his destiny on the planet Arrakis.

Zendaya's remarks, shared via Fandango, showcase her enthusiasm for the project and her willingness to collaborate with director Denis Villeneuve once again. She explains that whenever Villeneuve calls, it's an automatic 'yes' from her. Having started reading Dune Messiah, the second book in the series, she quickly realized the magnitude of the story and opted to focus on the first film before fully delving into the sequel.

The actress acknowledges that Villeneuve is a perfectionist who wants to ensure everything is executed with utmost care and love for the source material. She respects his approach and is willing to wait until he feels ready to move forward with Dune 3.

It's important to note, however, that Dune: Part Three has not yet received an official green light. The fate of the third film largely depends on the box office performance of Dune: Part Two and Warner Bros.' decision to proceed. While Zendaya and other cast members express their enthusiasm, the actual production of Dune 3 may be delayed. Villeneuve currently has other projects on his plate and may choose to direct another film before diving into the next installment of the Dune franchise.

Considering the epic scale and meticulous nature of Villeneuve's films, it's expected that his next project will take several years to complete. Given this timeline, it's conceivable that it may be at least five years before production on Dune: Part Three even begins. Additionally, the story itself includes a significant time jump, occurring 12 years after the events of the first film. Therefore, there is no need to rush the release of the next movie.

While the global box office success of Dune: Part One, grossing $402 million on a $165 million budget, is promising, the release of Dune: Part Two will play a critical role in determining the future of the franchise. If the second film exceeds expectations and becomes a massive hit, Warner Bros. could potentially push for an expedited production schedule for Dune 3. However, it remains uncertain whether audiences will embrace a return to the world of Arrakis as eagerly as Zendaya and her fellow cast members.

In conclusion, Zendaya's readiness to return for Dune 3 showcases her dedication to the project and her trust in the vision of director Denis Villeneuve. Although the potential third installment has not yet been officially confirmed, it may be several years before the production of Dune: Part Three commences. Fans will have to patiently await any updates on the future of the Dune franchise as development for the next film unfolds.
