Extremely attractive duo Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are getting married in the new trailer for The Drama, and you guys, we’re all cordially invited!
The teaser for the buzzy A24 black comedy landed in the wee hours of this morning and despite both stars oozing charisma, their characters are anything but a happy couple.
We get a bucketload of subtext from the minute-long clip, which opens with a wedding photographer asking the newly-engaged Emma (Zendaya) and Charlie (Pattinson) to pose and smile together like smitten spouses would “in real life”.
After listing platitudes about each other — in the understatement of the century, Charlie says Emma is “beautiful” — we see a montage of the couple’s romance, complete with sexcapades, wedding toasts, and a final moment that suggests something has gone terribly awry.
“You are cordially invited to the wedding of the year,” the title card (also understating things) tells us. In between the text, the teaser asks us to pretend the impossibly good-looking pair have zero chemistry, which as believable as Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist being ‘just friends’ in Challengers.
While specific plot details about the movie remain scarce, the official logline says the characters’ “relationship is shaken when one partner discovers unsettling truths about the other” just days before their wedding.
The unsettling truth might be that Zendaya’s character hasn’t seen Twilight, which in Pattinson’s case (and mine), would be a relationship-ending revelation.
Days before the trailer dropped, A24 released what looks like startlingly true-to-life engagement pics of Zendaya flashing her ring while sitting on Pattinson’s lap, with seemingly real newspaper clippings in the Engagements section of the Boston Globe.
Beyond those deets, we also know that The Drama is directed by Kristoffer Borgli — known for the 2023 horror-comedy Dream Scenario — and that it will co-star Mamoudou Athie and Alana Haim from the girl-group Haim.
Coincidentally, it’ll be one of three upcoming movies featuring Zendaya and Pattinson, with the pair also starring in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three.
For all those marking their calendars for the wedding of the year (beyond Zendaya’s actual, yet-to-be-announced wedding), The Drama will premiere on April 3, 2026.
