Zara Tindall shares her daily diet and it's surprisingly easy to follow

Zara Tindall is the late Queen Elizabeth's eldest grandaughter, an Olympic athlete (equestrian) and is married to former rugby star Mike Tindall - who finished fourth in the latest series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!. She is also described - and is shown to be on social media - as one of the most grounded members of the Royal Family. And so, it comes as no surprise that her eating habits, that keep her in shape at 41, are similar to the rest of us - habits that are super easy to adopt and require little thought.

The former Olympian equestrian, whose mother is Princess Anne, follows a healthy diet and exercise plan that sees her reducing her intake of carbohydrates and sugar, reports The Express.

Zara shares three children - eight-year-old Mia, four-year-old Lena and one-year-old Lucas - with Mike, and revealed what a typical day looks like for her in The Sunday Times Magazine, revealing that when it comes to food she doesn't "diet" but she tries to "eat well and not to eat too many carbohydrates or sugary things".

It seems quick and simple mealtimes became the way forward after they welcomed their first daughter Mia in 2015. Her morning, it was reported, begins at 7am and starts off with Greek yoghurt and honey, a piece of fruit or toast, which would give her the energy for a quick workout on the family's exercise bike at home - according to Hello! Magazine.

While Zara's breakfast is light, her husband Mike seems to opt for something a tad more filling, revealing in an interview with Waitrose & Partner's Food magazine that breakfast is the only meal he enjoys cooking and has items such as scrambled eggs on toast with smashed avocado and salmon paired with a green tea - although, with a young baby who he said "dictates what I do", it may be that he dips into Zara's option once every so often.

When it comes to lunch, the royal tends to have something light and "simple like soup and a sandwich or eggs and toast". As for dinner, Mike revealed earlier this year that since having the children, his wife's appetite has changed and she no longer eats red meat - which is something Mike is a fan of, meaning the two prepare seperate dinners. She usually opts for something healthy and filling.

Speaking to The Express, Sarah Campus, founder of LDN MUMS FITNESS, explained the royal's dietary habits and mused that: "A typical plate of hers is chock full of fresh and wholesome foods that are laden with protein, vitamins and nutrients." She added how "Healthy home-cooked meals are Zara’s preference at dinner time. Her husband Mike Tindall confirmed that Zara is ‘an awesome cook’, and ‘does all the cooking in the house’.”

As for exercise, Zara tends to hop on the exercise bike before the kids awaken in the morning and "extra exercise, like swimming and cycling" in the afternoon, as stated in The Sunday Times.

Sarah quipped: "As an athlete and former Olympic silver medallist, Zara, has always been in tune with what it takes to get her body into peak physical condition. Even now, Zara appears to have maintained many of those foundational habits formed during her years as a competitive athlete."

She added how Zara and Mike have an extensive gym installed in their estate home, Gatcombe Park. She said: "Zara likes to squeeze in a quick workout in their home gym before her children wake up – with her preference being to jump on an exercise bike for a spin.

“During her peak equestrian eventing days, Zara had to “work hard” on her fitness, which included riding up to eight horses a day. At that time, Zara’s regimen also included swimming and cycling for fitness, strength and endurance.”
