Zara shoppers say new top looks like a 'GCSE textile project'

One of Zara’s recent ‘clothing’ items has been shared to a parody account on Instagram.

The account ‘Awkward Zara’ recently posted an image showing the alternative piece of clothing. The account currently has 67k followers and is known for posting amusing pictures that fans have spotted on the official Zara website.

Zara fans will already be aware of the bizarre images the brand features on its website and social media when showcasing new fashion products. In the past, some clothing and accessories have been snapped alongside inanimate objects such as teddy bears and food.

The image shows a model wearing denim arm warmers. The Instagram post was captioned: “it’s been a while, but the denim arm warmers brought me back [denim jean emoji] so… arm jeans anyone?”

To everyone's surprise, the Denim Arm Warmers are in fact sold out on the Zara website and are even being sold on selling sites such as eBay for double the original price they were sold for at Zara. The arm warmers were available in sizes small, medium and large, with the description simply stating: “Denim arm warmers with an asymmetric neckline.”

Many Instagram users could not believe their eyes when they saw the arm warmers. One amused shopper said: “What in the GCSE textile project?” While a second added: “Even my arms can wear skinny jeans! For the love of denim why! Coming to a sale rail near you!”

Another user commented: "I’ve had enough" and a fourth said: "Zara, stop." Another added: “It just screams Vinted for £3 doesn't it?"
