Zander Clark determined to send bumper St Johnstone support home happy from Dens Park

Zander Clark is determined to send the bumper travelling support home with a spring in their step on Saturday.

The St Johnstone goalkeeper is well aware that Perth fans have been snapping up tickets for the opening post-split fixture and big trip to Dens Park.

So far, more than 1800 tickets have been sold for the away end as Saints seek to pick up a huge three points on the road.

Victory would pull Callum Davidson’s men eight points clear of Dundee, who sit bottom of the Premiership standings.

It may, potentially, also reel-in others in the lower half of the table to set up a blockbuster against St Mirren the following week.

Clark, speaking to Saints TV, said: “We’ve sold a good number of tickets.

“It will be good to get the fans through and hopefully send them home happy.

“The fans have been massive since the turn of the year. They never shut up, which is brilliant.

“Even the other weekend when we were 7-0 down, they were still singing. It is great to see.

“We want to do it as much for them as ourselves. Hopefully we can finish the season off well.”

Clark insists Saints have shaken off the disappointment of a heavy defeat at Celtic in their final fixture before the split.

“The boys are raring to go and start this massive run of fixtures,” he said.

“It was a tough one to take (against Celtic) but we need to put that to the back of our minds and focus on the form we had beforehand.

“We were playing well, solid and gritty in the way we defended. We need to take that attitude into this next set of games.”

Clark added: “As players, it’s another game for us. Another derby.

“They are usually good games between us and it’s one we’re certainly looking forward to.

“It will be a tough game. Every game is massive for every club involved in the bottom six.

“We’re not daft, we know how important these fixtures will be. We know as players how important it is for the club and for the supporters.”
