Zambia international Frankie Musonda on joining the Ayr United revolution

New boy Frankie Musonda has told how he can't wait to up sticks and be part of Lee Bullen's Ayr United revolution.

The former Raith centre half - a full international for Zambia - follows Ben Dempsey, Dipo Akinyeme and David Bangala through the door at Somerset this summer.

And the 24-year-old will move from his home in Fife to become part of the resurgence with the Honest Men after inking a two year deal.

He told the Ayrshire Post: "At the minute I'm living in Dunfermline and I guess it would have been easy enough for me to try and get a club in that part of the country.

"But I'm still at a fairly young age and for me, it's all about the level I'm playing at.

"I'm not someone who is only motivated by the money side of things - I'm more focused on trying to improve and play as high as I can.

"So staying in the Championship was really important for me and when the opportunity to come to Ayr came up, it really appealed to me.

"I'm moving down to live closer to Ayr and I'm really excited about the opportunity.

"I loved my time at Raith and I'd like to think I'll get a good reception when I go back there, but my future lies here now."

Musonda, a ball playing centre half who can cover a range of positions across the back line, added: "You could see the turnaround in how the team played under the manager last season.

"He was a really big factor in me coming here and has impressed me a lot in our conversations."

Musonda came through the Luton Town system and skippered their youth teams between the age of 16 and 18 before breaking into the first team at Kenilworth Road.

His career subsequently took him north to Stark's Park, where he has spent the last two seasons.

And he became a full cap for Zambia through his dad earlier this year - scoring against Congo on his debut.

He said: "We haven't qualified for the last three African Cup of Nations, so that's the aim at the moment.

"The group is underway with Ivory Coast, Comoros and Lesotho.

"I'm very lucky to be playing for Zambia and for any footballer to have the opportunity to represent their country at international level is a dream come true.

"It's allowed me to reconnect with a lot of my family who I hadn't seen in a long time...so I feel very lucky in that regard."
