Zach LaVine sings Jevon Carter’s praises at Bulls Media Day: ‘Big-time competitor’

It’s been a rocky road for the Chicago Bulls over the past two seasons. Since forming their new Big 3 of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic, they’ve only won one playoff game in two years together, and a big part of that is the loss of Lonzo Ball.

Ball went down with an injury 35 games into his career with the Bulls and hasn’t returned since. His defensive presence and three-point shooting have been missed, but the Bulls are seemingly looking to replace it. They brought in Jevon Carter this summer, and he should be slated to take over as the team’s new starting point guard.

“Whenever you have a threat on the floor, it helps,” LaVine said of Carter. “He’s a big-time competitor, real pesky, picks up full, talks a lot on defense. How he brings energy and his mentality is the thing I’ve noticed in the last couple of weeks.”

Carter had a career year with the Milwaukee Bucks last season, posting solid numbers across the board. In 81 appearances and 39 starts, Carter averaged 8.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game while shooting 42.3% from the field and a career-high 42.1% from behind the three-point line.

With Ball’s absence from the lineup, the Bulls will be looking to Carter to replace some of the defense and three-point shooting that he brought to the table. Hopefully, he can live up to LaVine’s praises.
