Developers YTL have submitted plans for hundreds more new homes on the old Filton Airfield, as the second part of their transformation into the ‘Brabazon Neighbourhood’.
Only 61 of the 339 being proposed by YTL are being classed as ‘affordable’, and only 18 of those will be available for ‘social rent’, with the developer building 43 as part of a shared ownership scheme.
That represents just 18 per cent of the total number of new homes being proposed in the second phase of the Brabazon development being classed as affordable. South Gloucestershire Council’s policy is that any large development should have 35 per cent affordable.
