AMARAVATI: Amidst high tension, YSRC candidate Danaboina Santosha Rupavani was elected as Duggirala mandal parishad president in Mangalagiri on Thursday.
YSRC, which has only eight members in the house of 18, wrenched the MPP uncontested after waging serious political battle for over eight months. Massive police force was deployed at Duggirala MPP office ahead of the election.
Senior officials including Guntur Superintendent of Police Arif Hafeez visited the MPP office and took stock of the security arrangements ahead of the polling. The post of Duggirala MPP was reserved for Backward Classes (BC) woman and the election triggered tension in political circles as top leaders of YSRC and TDP took it as prestige battle.
