Well, it seems like Jason Momoa might not be one of the nice guys after all. There have been reports of the Aquaman star allegedly yelling at and mistreating crew on A Minecraft Movie. Sigh.
YouTube streamer Rachell Marie Hofstetter, who goes by the name Valkyrae online, recently filmed a cameo for the movie and she didn’t have a great experience.
In a segment with YouTuber Jason Ween, known as JasonTheWeen, she was asked to share her worst encounter with a celebrity.
“So, Minecraft Movie, I have a cameo in the Minecraft movie that’s coming out — I would have to say Jason Momoa,” Valkyrae said.
She went on to claim she watched Momoa “mistreat some of the crew” while she was on set.
“It was pretty disappointing. It was after a very intense scene — and it was a very emotional scene — so maybe he was still in character, I don’t know. I was just surprised about how he treated some of the crew,” she alleged.
“[He] was just really mad at them that they weren’t doing something right in setting up the shot and stuff,” she claimed, adding he was “just angry, really mad, and yelling”.
“I was like man, this is not a good work environment, I would not be happy working under these conditions,” she added. “I would have to say that was the worst celebrity thing I’ve seen.”
Now, none of these allegations have been proven — so please take them all with a grain of salt!
Back in 2019, Momoa’s Game of Thrones co-star Emilia Clarke only had positive things to say about working with him, especially during their intimate scenes.
“He took care of me in an environment where I didn’t know I needed to take care of,” she told Dax Shepard on his podcast Armchair Expert.
“Jason was an experienced actor who had done a bunch of stuff before coming onto Game of Thrones. He said, ‘This is how it’s meant to be and how it’s not meant to be. I’m going to make sure that’s not the case.’ So he was always like, ‘Can we get her a robe? She’s shivering!’”
“It’s only now I realise how fortunate I was. That could’ve gone many, many different ways. He was so kind and considerate, and cared about me as a human being.”
However, in 2022, during the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp defamation trial, there were some less than savoury claims made about Momoa.
Per Variety, notes from Heard’s therapy sessions with Dr. Dawn Hughes revealed the Aquaman set was hostile, with Momoa allegedly becoming intoxicated on set and intimidating Heard.
“Jason said he wants me fired,” the notes read. “Jason drunk — late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too.”
At the time, a DC spokesperson refuted these claims, saying Momoa “conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”
It’s hard to know what to believe, but it’s probably just best to not put faith in any of these celebs. That way you can’t be let down!
