Ruby Franke, a former YouTuber, has been sentenced to up to 60 years in prison for four counts of aggravated child abuse. Each count carries a term of one to 15 years, to be served consecutively. However, due to a Utah law that limits consecutive sentences, she will serve a maximum of 30 years.
During the sentencing, Franke issued an apology to her six children, referring to them as her 'six little chicks.' She expressed regret for not being able to protect them adequately and acknowledged the danger they were exposed to over the past four years.
The case came to light in August when one of Franke's children escaped through a window to a neighbor's house, seeking food and water. The neighbor, noticing the child's emaciated condition and being bound with duct tape, alerted the authorities. Upon arrival, law enforcement found another malnourished child in the home.
Following the incident, Franke's estranged husband, Kevin Franke, filed for guardianship over their 16-year-old daughter and has been attempting to regain custody of their four minor children. The couple also has two adult children.
In a related development, Jodi Hildebrandt, Ruby's former business partner, received a similar sentence for her involvement in the case. The judge characterized her actions as 'terrorizing' the children.
Amid the family scandal, Ruby's sister Bonnie Hoellein posted a heartfelt message on social media, emphasizing her unwavering love and protection for her own children. Fans rallied around Hoellein, offering messages of support and encouragement during this challenging time.
