A YouTuber spent the night in one of the worst-rated hotels in Liverpool - and had mixed comments about his stay.
Tim Lindon, 42, who has a travel channel called Walk With Me Tim, decided to spend the night in the Adelphi Hotel in the city for his YouTube series Worst Rated. The hotel rates at number 100 of 112 hotels in Liverpool on Tripadvisor.
The Adelphi doesn't bring in the number of high-status visitors it once did, however, Tim enjoyed his stay and was drawn in by the architecture and the history of the building.
But Tim's stay wasn't without its complications, the Liverpool Echo reports.
After a long wait at check in, Tim was given the key to his room only to allegedly find that it was already occupied.
He claims that when he walked in there was an unmade bed and clothes on the floor - but luckily no people.
After going back to reception he claims was given the key to the correct room.
He said: "They gave me the wrong room I could've walked in on someone naked."
Tim's new room had bars on the bathroom windows, a dirty bathroom floor, and stains on the bedsheets, he says.
But despite hiccups, he still managed to enjoy his stay.
It was when Tim started to explore the hotel that he was taken in by the charm of the building.
Tim, who lives in Great Yarmouth, said: "Is it amazing to walk around and see the past? Absolutely".
Tim walked around the grand lobby and was taken in by the architecture.
He said: "This is absolutely beautiful."
He even stopped to play a rendition of the EastEnders theme on the beat-up and out-of-tune grand piano in the hall.
Tim then explored every nook and cranny the building had to offer including one mysterious room with three huge oak chairs.
Speaking on his experiences Tim said: "I paid £39 to stay in an amazing hotel with such history. I think it was definitely worth it.
"It is a big hotel and the cost and upkeep to do that must be extortionate. Yes, parts of the ceiling are coming down which could be a health risk.
"It was amazing that you could just walk around and just check out the hotel and its history."
The video was uploaded to Tim's channel on the 1st April 2022.
