Youri Tielemans hope, Nicolas Pepe exit, Edu transfer priority: Arsenal behind the scenes

Less than two weeks remain of the summer transfer window although Arsenal have already heavily bolstered their squad. Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira, Marquinhos, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko have all been signed by the Gunners as Edu looks to give Mikel Arteta the tools needed to secure Champions League football next season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have allowed several fringe players to leave the Emirates Stadium this summer. Alex Runarsson, Pablo Mari, Bernd Leno and Lucas Torreira have all left the club, while the futures of Hector Bellerin, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Nicolas Pepe are still unclear.

Business is not expected to stop there though, and a number of names continue to be linked with a move to north London. Youri Tielemans, Yeremy Pino and Pedro Neto are among the players to be linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks.

But what is actually happening at the Emirates Stadium? Who do Edu and Arteta have their eye on ahead of the September 1 deadline? Who could be on their way out?

On Thursday, football.london's Arsenal writer Kaya Kaynak gave his thoughts on some of the big talking points at the Emirates Stadium during a Q&A with fans. See what he had to say below.

DavidAFC: Hi guys. My name is David. Just would like to ask you about Arsenal's chase for a new winger. A lot of names have been mentioned like Neto, Diaby, Gakpo, Hudson Odoi etc, but do you know if Arsenal still hold an interest in Wilfried Zaha? Could he be an option for the club now at the end of the window? Reports have claimed Palace could sell him this summer for a fee of around £25m rather than losing him on a free next year.

Kaya said: "Hey David, thanks for the question! Edu has previously expressed that he wants to invest in players who are 25 and below in order to preserve their re-sale value for the future. As someone who is 29 Zaha doesn't really fit in to the profile of player Arsenal are going for these days, even though I think he would be a fantastic addition to the Gunners squad as someone who can play anywhere across the front line and someone who is a real goal threat. Of course there have been exceptions like the Willian deal, but with the wages Zaha would demand too, I just can't see that one happening I'm afraid."

cojaboberlin2: Hey Kaya. 1) Will Hein go on loan or stay as our 3rd goalkeeper? 2) Are we looking for a left centre back in the market? 3) How far has the Pépé loan progressed?

Kaya said: "Hey! Thanks for the question. With Leno, Okonkwo and Runarsson now, Hein will be staying at Arsenal as the third choice keeper this year assuming a truly impeccable offer doesn't come in. He was also in the first team photo call which feels like a pretty big indication of the role he'll have this year.

"2. Right now Arsenal aren't likely to go out and get a centre back given the numbers they have in the position with Gabriel, Saliba, White, Holding and Tomiyasu. Should one of those leave though, then Arsenal could go back in to the market to get a left sided centre back as it's a position Arteta values very highly. Could be one for windows to come in the future though.

"3. Pepe has switched agents this summer with a move away certainly a consideration in that decision. His wages make a permanent transfer difficult though as Arsenal will want a decent fee, especially considering they spent £72m on him. Nice are thought to have expressed an interest in taking him on loan this season and given that Fabio Vieira played right wing for the under-21s on Wednesday night, perhaps Arsenal are preparing themselves for the event of his departure."

timobazz182: Hi Kaya, is the Tielemans deal still on or we should just forget about it?

Kaya said: "Hey, thanks for the question! As we've been saying most of the summer there's not much new movement on the Tielemans deal. Arsenal are interested, he's open to the move, but right now nothing official has come in. I wouldn't say it's dead right now, as we could see Arsenal test Leicester's mettle later in the window given that this is their last chance to sell the Belgian who has just 12 months remaining on his contract."
