Youri Tielemans available on free transfer as Leicester confirm first-team stars leaving after relegation

Leicester have confirmed that seven players will leave the club when their contracts expire this summer, including Youri Tielemans.

The Foxes will be in the Championship next season for the first time since 2014, after they were relegated from the Premier League despite beating West Ham on the final day of the campaign.

Dean Smith’s arrival in April, following the departure of Brendan Rodgers, did not inspire a sufficient improvement in form at the King Power Stadium, as Leicester dropped out of the top-flight seven years on from their stunning title success.

James Maddison and Harvey Barnes are among the players who are likely to secure moves straight back to the Premier League, though the Foxes may have to lower their valuation of their first-team stars after relegation.

Arsenal have regularly been linked with a move for Tielemans over the past couple of seasons, with Leicester reluctant to sell, but it has now been confirmed by the club that the Belgian will leave on a free transfer this summer.

He is one of seven players who will be on the move in the weeks and months ahead, with Caglar Soyuncu, Daniel Amartey, Nampalys Mendy, Ryan Bertrand, Ayoze Perez and Tete also leaving.

The Foxes remain in contract talks with captain Jonny Evans and have exercised the option to extend Hamza Choudhury’s deal by a year.
