A 17-year-old pilot attempting to become the youngest person to fly around the world solo has revealed that his “hairiest moment” involved sleeping in a shed on an abandoned Pacific island.

Mack Rutherford took off from Sofia, Bulgaria, on 23 March this year and flew to Italy and Greece before navigating Asia, Africa, the US and two oceans.
