A 22-year-old woman who changed her life after not being able to fit in the rides at Thorpe Park had a drastic transformation from 27st 2lb - size 28 - to 13st 4lb - size 12 - after having an irreversible gastric sleeve operation at just 20.
After struggling with her soaring weight since her teens, the turning point finally came for 5ft 9in retail worker Stephanie Smith after a trip to the Surrey amusement site Thorpe Park when she was prevented her from going on half the rides. Steph had struggled with overeating so much in her teens following a family bereavement that her parents put locks on the fridge.
Stephanie, of Ashford, Kent, said: “At one point there were two people trying to push the safety bar down over me and it wouldn’t go. That’s when I decided enough was enough.”
