A Georgia woman is suing Kaiser Permanente after she says a pathology error led doctors to diagnose her with aggressive uterine cancer and perform a hysterectomy that she did not need.
Cassandra Barksdale, 43, sought medical care in early 2025 after experiencing heavy bleeding associated with uterine fibroids. According to her lawsuit, she underwent a biopsy on March 10, 2025, and was told several days later that the results showed high-grade, aggressive endometrial cancer. She underwent a full hysterectomy on May 15, 2025.
