A young Scots couple have been found dead in a flat, 12 days after a mother had reported on Facebook that her son appeared to have gone missing.
Keiran Nelson, 23, and young mum Tianna Charite, 22, were found dead in the flat in Cupar, Fife, on Tuesday.
Police are currently treating the deaths as unexplained. It is unclear at present if both died at the same time.
It is understood that the pair were found by Tianna’s brother, Brandan, after family members became concerned that they had not been in contact.
Keiran's mother Wendy Nelson, from Cowdenbeath, posted on Facebook that her son had been missing since May 4.
She has written: “Has anyone heard from my Keiran as I’ve not heard from him since 4th May and I’m worried about him now.
“I will have to report him as a missing person if I don’t hear from him today.”
But within hours of the message being posted on social media, her son and partner were found dead.
Tianna's mother Ashley rushed to Cupar on Tuesday afternoon after learning that her daughter had died.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.40pm on Tuesday, 16 May, we received a report of a concern for person at a property in Orchardgate, Cupar.
“Emergency services attended and the body of a 23-year-old man and 22-year-old woman were found within.
“The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained. Next of kin are aware.”
