Patrick Dardis is stepping down as chief executive of pub group Young’s after six years at the helm
Dardis, 60, who has been with the brewery group for 20 years, will relinquish his role at the 220 year old firm at this year’s AGM in July. He will be succeeded by Simon Dodd, who is the current chief operating officer.
Dardis will remain on the group’s board and stay on until he retires at the end of September to oversee the transition to Dodd. He will then remain available for his notice period through to the end of March 2023.
Steve Goodyear, chairman of Young’s, said: “I have really enjoyed working with Patrick over the last 20 years. He has worked very effectively and with great energy and passion for the business.
“On behalf of the board, I would like to thank him for his huge contribution and his many successful achievements during his time at Young’s.”
Before joining Young’s in 2002, Dardis held roles at Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries (now Marston’s), Guinness Brewing, Whitbread and Courage.
In an email to staff, Dardis praised his teams for seeing through the recession of 2008/09 and the Covid-19 pandemic.
He said: “Now is the right time to hand over the reins to Simon and the rest of the team at Young’s. I leave behind a great business, in good shape with a very talented team.
“It has been a privilege to lead a business with so many fantastic people in it and I would like to thank all of my colleagues for their support and contribution over the last 20 years.”
Dardis was one of several prominent hospitality bosses who urged the Government to exercise restraint over fears it would implement a partial lock down during the emergence of the Omicron Covid-19 variant last autumn.
He is a council member of the British Beer and Pub Association and an executive committee member of the Independent Family Brewers of Britain (IFBB).
