A heartbroken mum who was told she might only have a few years wouldn't have discovered she had stage four cancer if she wasn't pregnant, according to her sister. Emma Brooke, 22, was in and out of hospital with cholestasis of the liver while she was expecting her youngest child Alfie, the Echo reports.
The young mum-of-three from Thorton went for an ultrasound so doctors could get a clearer picture of her liver when they discovered a 10cm tumour on her right kidney. She was induced at 37 weeks in July last year so they could take a closer look at her kidney but just two weeks after giving birth Emma had to have it removed.
She was given her devastating diagnosis on September 15 last year, despite having no symptoms as she was informed she had papillary renal cell carcinoma - a type of kidney cancer. Emma started immunotherapy but the treatment sadly didn't work.
