Young man shot dead in Finglas, Dublin as gardai launch investigation

A man aged in his 20s has died after being shot in Dublin.

Gardai and emergency services were called to the scene in the Deanstown avenue area of Finglas around 4.30am on Sunday.

The victim was found with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead.

The scene is currently sealed off for a technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

The coroner has been notified and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination to be carried out by the State Pathologist.

Gardai have launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson said: “Gardai are investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred in the Deanstown avenue area of Finglas, Dublin 11, this morning, Sunday 3rd April 2022.

“Gardai and emergency services attended the scene at approximately 4:30am. A man, aged in his 20s, was discovered with a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Gardai are appealing for anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.

“Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow.”
