A young Irish man has died after the lorry he was driving crashed in Northern Ireland on Tuesday morning.
Police and emergency services rushed to the scene of the single-vehicle crash on Beltany Road outside of Omagh just after 8am.
The man aged in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is understood that the man, who is from the north Galway area, was driving a Scania lorry at the time of the incident.
Police closed off the road overnight with diversions in place as enquiries, and forensic investigations continue to take place to understand the cause of the crash.
West Tyrone MLA Nicola Brogan told ITV that the local community had been left shocked by the incident.
She said: "My thoughts are with this man's family and friends at this sad and difficult time. I also want to commend the emergency services who attended the scene in very tragic circumstances."
Sergeant Green from the Collision Investigation Unit said: "The one-vehicle collision occurred shortly before 8.20am this morning, Tuesday, 16th August. The man who was driving a Scania articulated lorry, died at the scene from his injuries.
"The Beltany Road currently remains closed to traffic while enquiries are ongoing. Local diversions are in place and the road is expected to remain closed overnight.
"We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have any dash-cam footage or information which could assist officers with their enquiries, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, and quote reference number 310 of 16/08/22."
