A young England fan has shared his adorable reaction to Jack Grealish's iconic World Cup goal celebration in his honour - after he admitted he nearly missed the whole match.
Finlay Fisher appeared on Good Morning Britain today where he spoke about the sweet gesture Grealish had made after his goal during England's thrashing of Iran, where they won with 6 goals to two. Jack and Finlay had met over a month ago, when the young fan asked if he would be able to do the arm worm to celebrate if he bagged a goal during England's campaign.
Grealish warmed the hearts of people across the world when he did a special 'arm worm' celebration after his goal yesterday in support of young Finaly, who has cerebral palsy like Grealish's sister Hollie.
Finlay and Jack had made a promise a little while ago, but the young boy was convinced his sporting hero would have forgotten, as he reacted to the amazing celebration. "At first I thought he'd forget," he said," before yelling with glee: He remembered".
"I think he was a bit starstruck," his mum shared, as the family celebrated Jack's nod
Speaking to Good Morning Britain hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley about what it's like having cerebral palsy, he explained: "You face a lot of challenges every day. If you have one hand to do everything all day, it can be tiring. But you have to work around it."
Finlay had to go into hospital yesterday morning - and nearly missed out on seeing the celebration.
"I hurt my leg in the morning, and I had to sit in A&E for two hours. And I was like, 'c'mon let me out, let me out'," he said, and asked how long it was before the game that he got back home, he added: "10 minutes before kick off, I was just on time."
Finlay also appeared on BBC Breakfast this morning, where he said it was like a "dream come true" when he saw the goal celebration.
"It feels like a dream come true, I can’t say how happy I am. I’ve still not got over it yet," he said, before opening up about what it was like meeting Grealish for the first time - describing it as like "meeting Superman or Batman".
"I couldn’t believe it, I was star-struck. When you meet your idol, it’s like meeting Superman or Batman, you can’t imagine it. He wanted to come and see me in his spare time, so I really want to thank him for that."
Finlay's father is a fan of rival club Manchester United and despite their clubs not seeing eye to eye on the pitch, Mr Fisher said he had "a lot of respect" for Grealish and his gesture at such a high profile event.
"He had so much on his plate, he had just scored a goal for England, and then he remembered to do that celebration for Fin. It just shows the level of integrity and what a legend the guy is," he shared.
Grealish had previously revealed just why he decided to do the celebration - as he opened up about his bond with young Finlay.
"I met young Finlay before about a month or ago. Got on, obviously, and really well with him. Him obviously, having cerebral palsy like my little sister as well so he asked me to do a celebration for him and luckily for him it came at the World Cup," he said after the game.
"That's what it's all about. For me it's just doing a celebration, that will mean the world to him I'm sure. Especially me doing it at the World Cup, so Finlay, that one's for you."
Finlay was thrilled by Grealish's celebration, adding: "Oh my god that's the best thing ever! He's my best mate. I love you Grealish!"
He bonded with the footballer after sending a sweet letter to the Manchester City star, where he thanked Grealish. "I wish there were more people in the world just like you who treat people with disabilities the same as anyone else," he wrote.
