Young child suffers horrific head-first fall during T20 World Cup clash

There was a frightening off-field moment during Scotland's momentous T20 World Cup win over the West Indies this morning (Monday).

The Scots had racked up 160 for 5 in their 20 overs, with George Munsey making an unbeaten 66 from 53 balls. Then a disciplined bowling display saw the Windies bowled out for 118 in a shock start to Group B.

But it was during the run-chase when attentions briefly turned to the stands following a concerning incident involving a youngster. The boy had seemingly tried to climb over a barrier, only to tumble head first onto the concrete floor.

His panicked father was then seen rushing over and scaling the barrier himself before attending to the boy.

The incident was posted on Twitter by @thedishking1, who quipped "Just a Dad and his son at the cricket…." @maxoneill_95 joked "This has made me laugh a lot more than it should of so far today"

@AndyHibberd99 made reference to a WWE wrestler, famed for his kamikaze 'swanton bomb' dives from great heights: "Jeff Hardy, famed from the top of the ladder!" he posted.

The Bellerive Oval, known commercially as Blundstone Arena, holds 20,000 people. The arena is famed for having a hill where spectators can sit and watch and children have space to roam.

The incident came on what proved a famous day for Scottish cricket, who are now in pole position to qualify for the latter stages next week. They now face Ireland on Wednesday and Zimbabwe on Friday, both at the same venue.

England meanwhile, continued their strong build-up to the World Cup be beating Pakistan in Brisbane. Harry Brook made 45 not out as Jos Buttler's men comfortably chased down 161.
