The Edinburgh Monarchs Academy have completed their roster for the start of the 2023 season with the signing of Jacob Hook.
The young Aussie is able to compete for the National Development League side thanks to a change in the league’s eligibility rules with the 20-year-old set to double up with the SGB Championship Edinburgh Monarchs.
Hook’s signing means he joins Kyle Bickley in suiting up for both teams during the upcoming season and gives the Academy side a powerful line-up.
EMA are the re-branded Armadale Devils with the club’s emphasis being on a greater link between Monarchs and the NDL side.
Monarchs Academy manager Scott Wilson admitted he was delighted with the signing, saying: “The slight relaxation of the rules is fantastic news for Jacob and for us as a club.
“It gives the Academy side another top rider in the league who will push Kyle all the way for the no.1 race jacket and gives Jacob an additional 14 meetings on his calendar.”
He added: “At this stage of his development, it is all about track time and the more of that he can get in a competitive environment the better. Jacob is a terrific signing for the Academy.”
The Academy get their 2023 campaign up and running on April 14 at home to Belle Vue Colts.
