You weren't hearing things – that is Timothée Chalamet chanting over the Dune 3 trailer

Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani during a scene in the Dune: Part 3 trailer. .

Dune 3 composer Hans Zimmer has revealed that the Fremen chant in the new Dune 3 trailer was actually performed by none other than Paul Atreides himself, Timothée Chalamet.

"DUNE remains my dream collaboration, partnering with the legendary director Denis Villeneuve to realize his vision through sounds," Zimmer wrote on Instagram. "I’m proud to share with you our new Fremen chant featured in DUNE: PART THREE - developed in collaboration with Denis and performed by my dear friend [Timothée Chalamet]."

Based on Frank Herbert's novel Dune Messiah, we can expect a pretty major time jump between Dune 2 and Dune 3. The trailer teased Paul's new role as a leader and father, as well a new villain as war wages on Arrakis – and beyond.

"I am playing older. And also someone who's been impacted by years of leadership and carries that weight. It's different," Chalamet told GamesRadar+ last year. "I don't want to say too much. But what I will say is Denis' been so incredibly spot on about realizing the challenge. I mean, a lot of the creative conversations Denis and I had – which are really his creative corner, and worldview and script development that I really have little to do with – were well aware of the challenges of making a third film."

Along with Chalamet, the cast of Dune 3 includes Zendaya as Chani, Florence Pugh as Irulan, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia, and Robert Pattinson as Scytale.

Dune 3 arrives in theaters on December 18. In the meantime, get up to speed with the other most exciting upcoming movies on the way in 2026.
