The man behind Gower Fresh Christmas Trees farm in Three Crosses and the Rhossili Sunflowers, Rob Morgan, has added a new natural attraction to his Three Crosses site: a gorgeous field of tulips. In the miserable rain a few months ago, he planted 10,000 tulips at the farm - and they're due to bloom in perfect time for the Easter weekend later this week!
Whilst the farm takes its name from the thousands of Christmas trees it grows each year, it actually hosts special events all-year-round. This Easter holiday, there's a wide range of activities taking place there, including a huge Easter trail for little ones to enjoy, a fairy maze, a mini funfair, tractor rides, food and drink stalls and Will's Petting Zoo.
Explaining what people could expect from a visit to Gower Fresh Christmas Tree Farm this Easter, Rob said: "We've got lavender - there's so many of them, it's like a sea of purple! And I've planted 10,000 tulips this year, they've started to bloom and will bloom properly by the Easter weekend, perfect timing!" "We've got an Easter trail - there's 15 giant eggs to find and children get a stamp at each one they find," he added. "We've also got characters to see, tractor rides, reindeer, a fairy maze, a small funfair and a petting zoo. The Easter arch [photo opportunity] is back and there's a Dog Arch too [photo opportunity for dogs] - as we're completely dog-friendly. We're open to everyone, and I've added in disabled access this year too making it easier for people in wheelchairs to travel around the site."
Talking about how much he enjoyed opening up his farm to the public in the spring/summer, Rob added: "I've been a farmer for years but years ago, I had 600 sheep and 200 cattle and I would go all day without seeing or talking to anyone! But in the last few years, I've built up the farm and I get to see people and there's so much for them to do!"
