Capcom announced a Resident Evil 4 remake demo during the February State of Play, and you can finally play it as of March 9, 2023. Capcom launched the demo, dubbed the Chainsaw Demo, during the Capcom Spotlight after showing another glimpse at the upcoming survival horror game and its fresh twist on the 2005 classic.
The Resident Evil 4 remake demo is available on PS5 and PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam. Like Capcom’s previous Resident Evil demos, you can get a brief glimpse of what the full game has to offer, including a handle on Leon’s arsenal and deadly knife skills.
The Chainsaw Demo lets you play through the game’s opening segments in the village, including Leon’s first run-in with the iconic chainsaw man, Dr. Salvador, and there’s no time limit. You’re free to explore it as many times as your courage allows, though it doesn’t include the Mercenaries mode, which Capcom is launching as DLC for the main game.
The demo is available indefinitely, and you can download it from your platform’s storefront.
However, your save data won’t transfer to the full game. Whatever progress you make, you’ll have to make again once Resident Evil 4 remake launches on March 24, 2023, for PC, PS4 and PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
