High-end designer fashion house Balenciaga is selling a luxury bag that looks like a throwaway Tesco 20p carrier bag - for £925. The bag, which bears a striking resemblance to the old Tesco value range design, is part of the Spring 2022 range from the fashion house.
While the Tesco single-use version is no longer on sale, and was made from thin plastic the Balenciaga dupe is made from printed paper calfskin. The Balenciaga site describes the Monday Shopper Bag as: "A modern interpretation of [an] archetypal bag," and says it is from "look 6 of the Balenciaga’s Spring 22, Clones Collection."
Balenciaga previously released a bag which some shoppers compared to the iconic 75p big blue sack from Ikea. The Balenciaga version sold for £1,600. The £925 bag has silver snap closures and inner zipped pockets.
