Andy Carroll's professional football journey began brightly at his hometown club of Newcastle, where at just 17 years and 300 days old, became the club's youngest-ever player to appear in a competitive European fixture during a UEFA Cup win against Palermo.
A loan spell at Preston North End offered valuable senior experience before he returned to St. James' Park to establish himself as a regular first-team player, scoring his first competitive goal for the club with a powerful header against West Ham United.
The 2009/10 season saw Carroll truly blossom into a star striker for the Magpies, netting an impressive 17 goals in 39 appearances as Newcastle secured the Championship title and earned immediate promotion back to the Premier League. His commanding physical presence and exceptional aerial ability translated to the top flight, too, leading to an England call-up in no time at all.
A move to Liverpool followed, where he wore the legendary no.9 shirt and despite a period of adaptation, Carroll helped the Reds win the 2012 League Cup title. His strong finish to the 2011/12 season earned him a place on the plane to Euro 2012, too, where he'd net against Sweden for the Three Lions.
Carroll then enjoyed a productive seven-year spell at West Ham United, initially on loan before signing permanently. He became a central figure for the Irons, consistently scoring spectacular goals and playing at the club's final campaign at Upton Park.
From there, the target man would return to himself in the Football League with Reading, netting nine in a Championship campaign wheere the Royals were relegated.
Carroll then took a left-turn to sign for Amiens in Ligue 2, before joining Bordeaux in a much-publicised drop to the French non-league to help try and drag the giants back to the top following a forced relegation.
Now in the National League South with Dagenham & Redbridge, Carroll has over 100 career goals in over 450 appearances.
