Yodel to create 4,000 new jobs to help with Christmas demand

Delivery giant Yodel has announced plans to recruit thousands of new employees to help it deal with the Christmas period.

The Liverpool-headquartered company is looking to full 4,000 roles across its network. However, the figure is 311 lower than last year.

A variety of roles are available at Yodel’s 50 locations nationwide - including employed and self-employed couriers, day and night parcel sorters, and team managers.

The company said the latest recruitment drive follows a series of infrastructure investments and will "support the business as it scales up operations for peak".

Chief executive Mike Hancox said: "Christmas is always our busiest time of the year, but with 2022 bringing additional World Cup related shopping, we’re anticipating a festive season like never before.

"There are a variety of roles available, with many presenting an opportunity to grow into long-term careers. By joining Yodel, you will become part of a nationwide family and have options to work either full or part-time to suit your lifestyle."

Yodel added it has recorded a profitable financial year "after a year of significant growth". The company has not yet published its latest annual accounts.

The company's parent, Logistics Group Holdings, which is owned by the billionaire Barclay family, posted pre-tax profits of £17.6m for the 12 months to June 30, 2021, a rise from the £41.8m loss it reported for the prior year.

Its revenue also surged from £520.6m to £676m over the same period.
