A Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak that federal investigators have been tracking since early July has grown to 90 confirmed cases, and nearly a month into the investigation, the FDA still has not named a food, has not opened an on-site inspection, and has not begun product sampling.
The count appears in the agency's outbreak investigations table, which was last updated on July 29. The cluster, listed as reference number 1387 and posted on July 8, rose from 81 cases to 90 in that update, after MedicalDaily reported it at 69 cases earlier in the summer.
