'Yes, I am dark': Former India cricketer slams troll over racist attack

NEW DELHI: Former Indian cricket team spinner Laxman Sivaramakrishnan gave an apt reply to a social media user who tried to troll him with a racist remark.

Sivaramakrishnan, who played 9 Tests and 16 ODIs for India between 1983 and 1987, posted a picture of himself with an elephant in the background from the Ayyappan temple in Mahalingapuram, Tamil Nadu on X (formerly Twitter).

"50th year of Ayyappan temple today. Mahalingapuram. Great celebration," Sivaramakrishnan wrote on his X handle.

To this, a user tried to troll the former cricketer and wrote: "Hii sir that elephant is more visible in night than you".

Sivaramakrishnan took no time and gave a straight reply to the user.

"Yes I am dark," Sivaramakrishnan said.

"It's a temple festival and you people are so cheap," Sivaramakrishnan further added.

Earlier, Sivaramakrishnan expressed his disappointment with Ravichandran Ashwin for lack of 'respect' during the five-match series against England.

Sivaramakrishnan took to X (formerly Twitter) and wrote: "Tried calling him a few times to wish him for his 100th Test. Just cut off my call. Sent him a message, no reply. That's the respect we former cricketers get."
