'Yes, Frisco has changed': Indian-origin woman speaks up at US city council meeting amid racial attack, targeting of H-1Bs

The latest council meeting (February 17) of Frisco, a Texas city, again turned into a charade of blaming India for the changing landscape of the city, with speakers calling out H-1Bs and Indian takeover. An Indian-origin speaker Vinny Patel stood up to the blatant racism and suggested that the council should only allow speakers who are from Frisco. "Several people expressed concerns about how much the city has changed over the last 10, 20 years. I want to acknowledge those concerns," the woman said.

"Frisco has changed the way they describe it. It's no longer the small suburban town and change can be uncomfortable, especially for those who've seen it grow over time. I also understand there are worries about the rapid growth and about particular communities moving in large numbers. What I don't fully understand is the expectation of policy changes based on who should live here," Patel said.
