A Somerset care home has been sold off after 24 years for an undisclosed sum.
Beechwood House in Yeovil, which has been owned by Rita Gibb since 1998, was sold to Paul Nery of Rose Care Group, which was founded in 2019. It has become the eighth care home in Mr Nery's portfolio.
Ms Gibbs decided to sell the business in order to retire, while her son-in-law Adrian Rogers, who has been running the home, looks to pursue other interests away from the care sector.
Mr Rogers said: “As a family, we are proud of Beechwood House and the home we created for our residents. It is important to us that the new owner will build on the values and care Beechwood House stands for and, with Paul Nery and the Rose Care Group, we are reassured this will continue. We wish Paul and all of the staff the very best wishes for the future.”
Beechwood House, which can accommodate 28 people, has 27 bedrooms with ensuite facilities, resident day rooms, bathrooms, ancillary space, and an enclosed courtyard-style garden.
Mr Nery said he was looking forward to "building on the excellent standards" in place at the home. "It is a beautiful home that puts the care of the residents front and centre," he added.
Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co managed the sale on behalf of Ms Gibbs.
Simon Harvey, senior director in Christie & Co’s South West Healthcare team, who handled the sale, said the home’s reputation and "strong trading performance" made it an "attractive proposition" to buyers.
"Ultimately, Paul’s bid was successful, and we are delighted to have assisted the continued growth of Rose Care Group and enabled Rita to retire and Adrian to move onto the next chapter in his life," he added.
