Yellow Nottingham e-scooter 'parked' on top of bus shelter

A striking picture taken by a Nottingham resident shows an e-scooter 'parked' on a bus shelter. The photo depicts one of the yellow devices placed upright on top of a bus shelter.

The scene was spotted by a resident who passed by the Wilford Green bus stop. The bizarre photo was taken shortly before 8pm on Sunday, March 19.

A spokesperson for Superpedestrian said: "Superpedestrian does not condone this behavior. While we often say that scooters and public transport are a great combination, this is not what we meant."

Nottingham's e-scooter trial was extended continue until 2024 - with more than 2m rides completed since the trial began, according to last year's data. In July 2022, the Department for Transport announced that local authorities would have the option of carrying on with the trials up to November.

It was reported that on average, there have been 3,500 rides a day during the trial, which makes Nottingham one of the most popular e-scooter locations in the country, with more than 1,000 scooters available in 400 locations around the city. And earlier this year, Superpedestrian - Nottingham's e-scooter operator - introduced a subscription pass at a reduced cost for key workers.

Subscription pass holders receive 90 rides of 15 minutes or shorter for £30 a month. By comparison, the standard price for a 15-minute journey is £1.80.
