In a remarkable shakeup to the Australian podcasting landscape, Shameless Media has officially signed a content deal with KICPod and KICBump podcasts from LiSTNR as it launches Shameless Media Studios.
On Thursday, Shameless announced it had signed a multi-year partnership with the KICPod and KICBump podcasts, with Shameless co-founder Zara McDonald describing the work of KIC co-founders Laura Henshaw and Steph Claire Smith as “exceptional”.
“They have incredible chemistry, a loyal listenership, and are deeply committed to the next era of their shows. We’re all very excited to see what the ‘Shameless Media take’ of KICPod is,” McDonald said.
Henshaw said the move is “a really special moment” for the KIC family, and drew comparisons between Shameless and KIC, highlighting that both companies are independent and women-founded.
“We’re so grateful to the team at LiSTNR for everything we achieved together. Now, it’s an absolute honour to become the first licensed podcast for Shameless Media Studios — an empire which we’ve had the privilege to watch the incredibly talented Michelle and Zara build from the ground up,” Henshaw said.
“As an independent, women-founded media company, we couldn’t be prouder to be working together.”
Smith echoed her co-founder’s sentiment, praising Shameless co-founder Michelle Andrews and McDonald for their friendship.
“Being female founders and friends, we’ve often turned to Michelle and Zara and connected on challenges or exciting opportunities. Laura and I have always been inspired by the empire that they have created. We have really enjoyed watching and supporting them from the sidelines, and now joining forces is truly exciting,” Smith said.

What’s next for Shameless Media and KIC?
Alongside this absolute ~Aussie icon convention~ Shameless’ Andrews says it’s “firmly focused” on creating its original products, adding that “KICPod and KICBump are the perfect additions to our roster”.
It also plans to dip into the parenting space, with McDonald adding that Shameless has been working on its original parenting podcast for “almost a year now”.
“The prospect of having two complementary, parent-focused podcasts under our network is a real strength, given the depth of that space,” McDonald said.
Fans have shared their support for the massive collaboration, with many describing the deal as “amazing” and “huge”.
But in true Aussie fashion, I only have three things to say: YEAH THE GIRLS.
