Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of Yasmin Begum in Bethnal Green have charged a man with her murder.
Quyum Miah, 40, of Homerton, was also charged with burglary and two counts of fraud by false representation.
He is due to appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The alarm was raised at 4.06pm on Thursday after 40-year-old Ms Begum failed to pick up her children from school, the Metropolitan Police said.
Officers then rushed to an address on Globe Road where they found her with stab injuries.
A special post-mortem was carried out on Saturday, 26 March and the cause of death was established as multiple sharp force injuries.
One neighbour said the victim had lived there for 10 years, adding: “She was a nice lady, no problems. We are in complete shock.”
Another said: “We are devastated to think one of our neighbours has died in this way.”
Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command continue to lead the investigation.
