Elon Musk's social media platform, X, has recently taken legal action by filing an antitrust lawsuit against The Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM). The lawsuit alleges that GARM engaged in illegal boycotts against companies, including X (formerly known as Twitter).
X's CEO, Linda Yaccarino, made the announcement on Tuesday regarding the lawsuit. The legal action targets not only GARM but also the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) and specific GARM members such as CVS Health, Mars, Orsted, and Unilever.
The decision to file the lawsuit came after X reviewed the findings of the House Judiciary Committee's investigation. The investigation revealed that GARM and its members orchestrated boycotts and utilized other tactics to target platforms, content creators, and news organizations they disapproved of. These actions were aimed at demonetizing and restricting consumer choices.
Yaccarino stated that X believes GARM's tactics have resulted in significant financial losses, amounting to billions of dollars for the company.
In a related development, Rumble, a video-sharing platform and cloud services provider, announced on Tuesday that it would be joining X in the lawsuit against GARM, WFA, and the aforementioned GARM members.
