Plans to demolish two tower blocks at Wyndford Road in Maryhill have been given the go-ahead.
Glasgow City Council has given the green light for the buildings to be flattened and replaced with 300 new homes.
Wheatley Homes applied for permission to get rid of the existing 600 "dated" social housing units of which only around 10% are still occupied.

When demolition gets underway, both 26-storey towers will be brought down in a controlled explosion with the process expected to take around two years to complete.
A 150-metre exclusion zone will be erected during the explosion phase with an evacuation centre provided for residents living nearby.
Wheatley Group has said they will plant 50 new trees across the estate to compensate for the loss of 33 existing trees.
A spokesperson said: “Following the council’s decision, we will now take forward our exciting regeneration plans for the area which will see us build more than 300 new energy-efficient homes, investing £73million to transform the Wynford community.
“More than 250 of the houses will be for social housing, including over 100 much-needed three and four-bedroom family homes, with the rest for affordable housing at well below full market rent."
The plans were met with backlash by a small group of campaigners who have now vowed to take court action to stop the development.
Wyndford Residents Union has been contacted for comment.
