The O2 arena will be hosting WWE Money In The Bank this summer, with pre-sale tickets soon available.
The wrestling event follows on from its record-breaking success of Clash at the Castle, in Cardiff.
Now UK audiences will be able to enjoy the wrestling giant’s upcoming doubleheader in London. It is the first time WWE has had a pay-per-view event in a UK arena since 2003.
Former 14-time world champion Triple H, who is now WWE’s chief creative officer, has announced he wants to run more international events this year after the success of Clash at the Castle.
The 02 arena will also feature SmackDown airing live in a primetime slot on July 30.
What is WWE Money In The Bank?
Money In The Bank is an annual event first held at WrestleMania 21 back in 2005 and includes both men’s and women’s matches.
The premise of the showdown involves wrestlers using a ladder to compete with one another, to retrieve and unlock a briefcase hung above the ring.
The first wrestler to get his or her hands on the briefcase wins, with the prize being a contract guaranteeing a championship match of their choosing within the next year.
Executive vice president of talent at WWE Dan Ventrelle said: “The O2 is one of the world’s premier venues and the perfect home for Money In The Bank. We are excited to bring one of our ‘big five’ events to the UK and look forward to welcoming the WWE Universe to London on July 1.”
When is WWE Money In The Bank?
WWE’s premium live event will take place on Saturday, July 1, at The O2 in London.
